Hi, I'm Nina Iordanova and this is the 37th edition of Something Good, a newsletter filtered through my 🧠, 🖐, and ❤️. Coming your way every two weeks, I hope you find something good here.
Hello, did you know you can cry for 9 hours straight? I found that out at my brother’s wedding! Started at roughly 1pm and lasted til 1am with some breaks in between for eating and dancing. As soon as the speeches started, I’d be back at it. Solidarity cry.
It was incredibly moving and beautiful, everyone looked amazing, the venue was stunning, it was all perfect. Here’s the dress I ended up wearing (the yellow organza one will live in my dreams and/or the clearance section of The Bay forever).
I’d also like to show a transformation I’m particularly proud of (after I was lividly angry).
Photo 1: Taken after paying more for a blowout than I did for a haircut, and spending an hour in the chair watching my prep time dwindle away while the hair stylist kept stopping to tell me about:
the strange foods he’d eaten at The Ex (a fair that happens in Toronto)
the times (multiple!!) he’d avoided getting ketchup on his hat
the time he got it on his sweater
when he took the train to New York (that was the entire story)
when he ordered a cookie for dessert and it ended up being really big
Photo 2: After many of the curls had fallen out and makeup had been applied! I initially went in with a full face of foundation (something I haven’t done since pre-Covid days) and it felt so heavy and thick that it only fuelled the rage. I ended up scrubbing my whole face, putting on concealer just around my nose and under the eyes, waterproof mascara (see intro note), eyeliner, blush on the eyes, blush on the cheeks, brow filler, then BADDABING BADDABOOM RED LIPSTICK AND WE WERE OFF TO THE RACES.
I actually came in with the good intentions of sharing a list of recommendations with you today, but remembering that blowout made me mad all over again. I will save my list of LOVES for you for next week, because they are very very good.
And I’ll leave you with this last photo of Gemma. She has grown quite a bit (a whopping 53 lbs now, and almost 7 months old!) so I removed the divider from her crate so she wouldn’t have to sleep in a weird squiggle with her head at a ninety degree angle.
This is her new sleeping position.
Thank you kindly,
✨
Warmly yours,
Nina
Thanks for reading and I'll see you in two weeks! 👋
