Hi, I'm Nina Iordanova and this is the 23rd edition of Something Good, a newsletter filtered through my 🧠, 🖐, and ❤️. Coming your way every two weeks, I hope you find something good here.
Hi! I have a big surprise for next week but this week I just want to tell you about my house.
This is a new rug that I bought that I measured completely wrong but still looks very cozy. I spent over 5 hours researching rug options, measuring all parts of my house and mapping out theoretical rug dimensions and still got it wrong.
The rug stretches from under the dining room table to theoretically under the couch, but you will see in the photo below how theory did not translate to reality. The rug is not under the couch. The rug is not even wide enough to span the legs of the couch. Still. Mostly successful.
Then I took the small sheep-wool rug I was using for my living room and turned it into a bedspread. It’s a handmade heirloom from Bulgaria so it’s pretty special to me and I wanted to find another use for it. Traditionally they were used as rugs, bedspreads, or hung on the wall to keep houses warm. I went for this viking-looking bed makeover.
I’ve got jasmine blooming, candles burning, it’s a very cozy situation here. There are a few more big pieces I’d like to add (art, a floor lamp, more rugs), but it’s nice to see the process of everything coming together. Building towards something piece by piece.
It’s cool to see growth and change as a function of time instead of something you have to arrive into perfectly, all at once.
Okay, it’s 7:59am on Saturday morning, I’m gonna send this and then go make a tea! Hope you’re having a very cozy morning too.
✨
Warmly yours,
Nina
